Time! A Terrible Thing To Waste

I wish I would have done something different. That is a thought we all have pondered on at some time or another in our daily lives. Whether it was a life changing decision, an opportunity we wanted to pursue or simply telling a loved one that we care. So many times we take time for granted that we will have the opportunity to do it later. But the reality is that society's mentality, personal situations, and violent people have limited the time we have to share how we feel. The say was “Here today gone tomorrow. Now things happen so fast it could be”Here today gone today. Every moment is a mystery. That being said, there is one specific point I would like to focus on.

My Mom and I were have a phone conversation and the subject came up about having no regrets concerning loved ones in our life. There are so many circumstances that can distance us from our loved ones. Many we have no control over and some we do. So we must focus on the things we can control. Making a phone call, sending a flower, dropping by for a few minutes after work, or simply sending a card telling someone that you love them. We feel that we are so busy in our own lives that days months weeks or years go by that we can't get back. But actually we have plenty of time to check in. You drive home from work. You sit down take off your shoes at the end of the day to relax. You read the newspaper, watch tv, or do everything you want so yes people have plenty of time to check in. All we have to do is take advantage of our opportunities to let the special people in our lives know how much they mean to us.

I read a Facebook post where someone had recently lost a loved one. As overwhelming as it is to loose someone they focused on an amazing point. because they stayed connected to the loved one.  They had the opportunity to tell the person they loved them. Little did they know it would be the last conversation with them. They had no regrets, that's the way I hope to feel when I reflect on life and the people I hold dear in my heart.

It's not how you start but how you finish. That is the statement I'm learning to live by. Mistakes and shortcomings are a part of life. But when we learn to do different we should try. Start each day with an I love you to someone in your life. One person at a time we may  eventually connect with them all.
