Have you ever been in a conversation where the other person totally ignored what you were saying but anxious to give you their philosophical opinion? The struggle is real. Listen attentively. If you don't try to understand my situation don't waste time trying to give a solution. Most of the time you do more harm than good because people are not always looking for you to come up with a solution they just need someone to listen.
