I Have My Rights! I’m Not Wearing A Mask

I have rights.” That is one of the most controversial statements in the atmosphere right now. Many people feel like their manhood or womanhood is being challenged by being told to put on a mask. Let’s slow it down for a minute. At the present time, we are in a crisis with this COVID-19 situation. All over the world, people are dying after becoming exposed to the virus. The United States’ numbers are increasing daily. Men, women, and children are losing their lives dealing with the unknown. Families are seeing loved ones hospitalized and spending so much time alone and some of the even living their last days.

So, what is the solution? Only God knows the final jeopardy answer. What we do know is that wearing a mask in the presence of others will decrease your chances of contracting the virus. This takes me back to my original thought: Why are so many people against wearing mask? If there is a slim possibility that you can protect yourself and others from contracting COVID-19, shouldn’t that be something that we are willing to do? It has gotten so bad that some people are becoming violent when asked to wear a mask. Sources say that someone was actually beaten to death for asking people to put on their masks. Now that’s what would be called a senseless tragedy. We must do better.

We have to remember that some people have certain medical conditions which make it difficult to wear a mask. In those situations, we must deal with the solution on an individual basis. Even on that subject, those individuals must be protected also ; probably even more because of their preexisting conditions.

We also have the people that say:

“It doesn’t matter I’m not wearing a mask. If I’m going to get the corona virus, I can’t stop it.”

I disagree. God gives us common sense to know that if you put yourself in harms way, anything can happen. We can make ourselves easy targets by not following these simple procedures.

There are some that say that God is going to protect them. The Bible says that we must obey the laws of the land. If not, we will reap the punishment. Some people may ask: so which laws must we obey or choose not to obey?

The Bible also says, if any man lacks wisdom to ask God. Just like people feel like mask wearing is a choice, asking God for wisdom to understand things is also a choice.

Why not choose the loving, compassionate thing to do? And that is to just wear your mask.

Let’s try this mask thing and see if we can get rid of Covid-19 one case at a time until we have a vaccine.
